The Taj Hari Mahal, set within six acres of verdant gardens, is an oasis of calm and tranquillity in Jodhpur. Designed in Marwar style architecture with Moghul-inspired domes, life-size murals and Moorish arches, this 14th-century palace is a mix of Rajasthani heritage and modern luxury. The hotel has 93 luxury rooms, all of which feature traditional design and luxurious furnishings with wood-framed windows and beige and blue décor.
The Taj Hari Mahal offers a range of dining experiences each specialising in Indian, Chinese and Western cuisine. Experience Rajasthani cuisine and live entertainment at Latitude, or authentic Chinese cuisine on The Good Earth’s patio, and Ola, is the Rajasthani art-inspired lounge bar. Private dining can be arranged in the gardens or a memorable dining experience.
The Spa offers the best in Indian rejuvenation therapies, body scrubs and wraps. There is also a fully equipped gym and a grand outdoor pool. Taj Hari Mahal also conducts open jeep drives to a Bishnoi village, the region's earliest known environmentalists and Camel rides across the sands to see a sunset over the desert with folk music, dance and a sumptuous barbeque dinner.
Amenities
Stay Taj Hari Mahal features 93 luxury rooms. Each room and suite are carefully designed in Rajasthani style and fitted with every modern amenity. The stylish Superior rooms located on the first floor, lookout over the garden. While the 2-bedroom Premium suites feature a sitting room and large arched windows provide views over lush gardens or the stylish hotel patio. The spacious Executive Suites with separate living and sleeping areas have a private jharokha, or sheltered balcony.
ChildCare Children are welcome to stay at Taj Hari Mahal, but there are no specific facilities available. Babysitting can be arranged, on request.
Dine There are two restaurants at Vivanta by Taj Hari Mahal. The Latitude, is an all-day dining restaurant with Rajasthani cuisine and live entertainment. The Good Earth, specialises in authentic Chinese cuisine, try Szechuan-style prawns. Ola is a Rajasthani art-inspired bar where everyone gravitates for a fast and fashionable late evenings chill out. With traditional music and dance, the evening turns into a vibrant expression of colour and creativity. Private dinning can be enjoyed on the hotel's terrace, which overlooks the Mehrangarh Fort.
Relax Blending ancient Indian wisdom with contemporary therapies, the Spa at Taj Hari Mahal offers the best in rejuvenation therapies ranging from aromatherapy massages, time-honoured Indian treatments, body scrubs and wraps. The Fitness Centre has a hi-tech gym, open 24 hours a day. It is equipped with Life Fitness circuit training and cardio machines and free weights. Yoga and massages are also available.
Experience Taj Hari Mahal offers a selection of experiences, including camel and jeep rides, and dining on sand dunes. An open jeep drive to a Bishnoi village introduces guests to the lifestyle of the region's earliest known environmentalists. Camels rides and jeep drives across the sands, provide a desert sundowner experience followed by music, dance, and barbeque dinner.
Location The Vivanta by Taj - Hari Mahal, is located close to the city centre of Jodhpur. Hari Mahal, a luxury hotel with Moghul domes and Marwar arches, is a 21st Century homage to the regal heritage of Jodhpur.
Getting There Most major airlines fly to India’s main airports. Delhi is the best point of arrival for Rajasthan and north India. Jodhpur Airport (JDH) is a small facility that is serviced only by domestic flights. There are regular scheduled flights between Jodhpur and Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai and Udaipur. Hari Mahal is about 4 km from the airport.
When to go Rajasthan, the desert state of India is largely hot but unlike the rest of India, has a much longer tourist season. Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June and is the hottest season. Monsoon arrives in July and extends until September, is a good time to travel to Rajasthan, since it never rains there. Post monsoon, October to November and right through winter months of December to March are perfect for travelling through Rajasthan.
